The Traumatic Brain Injury-Prediction and Mitigation Group (led by Dr Mazdak Ghajari http://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/m.ghajari) within Dyson School of Design Engineering would like to invite exceptional candidates to apply for the Imperial College London President's PhD scholarship (http://www.imperial.ac.uk/study/ ... -phd-scholarships/) or CSC scholarship.

The students will work on challenging research projects focused on understanding the effects of brain exposure to impact and blast, developing energy absorbing materials and structures, and optimal design of preventative measures. The students will have a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary environment, closely collaborating with neurologists and neurosurgeons (http://imperialneurotrauma.co.uk/) and industrial partners.

The President's PhD Scholarships aims to provide up to 50 research students with great potential the opportunity to work within their chosen research field with the support of an excellent supervisor. Opportunities for PhD funding via this scheme are extremely competitive, with higher than usual eligibility requirements. The CSC sholarship is another possible funding opportunity, which also provides full tution fees and living allowance. Chinese students who study in Imperial College usually have high chances in applying for this scholarship.

Applicants must have a first class honours in an area pertinent to the proposed PhD area and are encouraged to check their eligibility for the Imperial President's PhD Scholarships before enquiring. The deadline for student submission to the college for Round 2 is 24th January 2017 and Round 3 is 28th of March 2017. Applicants are expected to have contacted their supporting supervisor prior to this.
